ZANZIBAR: YOUR ISLAND ESCAPE

Over five days and four nights, a small circle of women slows down on the spice island. We begin with a welcome dinner on the beach, then settle into a rhythm of warm water, Swahili flavors, and unhurried mornings. We wander the carved doors and markets of historic Stone Town, learn the island’s spices on a farm tour, and cook a traditional Zanzibari lunch together. Evenings end on the water with a sunset cruise and farewell dinner on board. In between, the days are yours: rest on the beach, or add dolphins, snorkeling, and sea turtles. Hosted by Shahana Khan Khalil, with 8 to 20 women. Relaxed. Cultural. Connected.

general icon

Do I need a visa?

Visa requirements depend on your passport. Zanzibar is part of Tanzania, so many nationalities need a Tanzanian visa.

If you need a visa, apply through the official government portal: https://visa.immigration.go.tz

All travelers must have a passport valid for at least 6 months from arrival, with at least one blank page.

We're happy to guide you based on your nationality. We recommend applying at least 3–4 weeks before travel.

general icon

Is there any mandatory insurance for Zanzibar?

Yes. All foreign visitors must have the Zanzibar Inbound Insurance issued by the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation. It costs USD 44 per adult and is valid for 92 days from arrival. Your personal travel insurance does not replace it.

You can buy it online before travel at https://inbound.visitzanzibar.go.tz or at the airport on arrival. We recommend buying it online to avoid queues.

general icon

Is travel insurance included in the package?

No, travel insurance is an additional cost and is not included in the package price. Guests can add travel insurance to their booking for an additional fee, or arrange their own comprehensive policy before departure.

Whichever option you choose, your policy should cover medical emergencies, trip cancellation or interruption, lost or delayed luggage, and flight delays.

If you plan to join optional activities such as snorkeling or boat excursions, please check that your policy covers water activities.

Please note that mandatory Zanzibar Inbound Insurance is a separate entry requirement and an additional cost. Your personal travel insurance does not replace it. See “Is there any mandatory insurance for Zanzibar?” above for details.

general icon

Is the trip gratuity included in the package?

No, the trip gratuity is an additional cost and is not included in the package price. It is USD 10 per person per day, and it covers tips for the local team who look after the group during the trip, such as guides, drivers, and boat crew.

Instead of tipping each person separately, we collect the gratuity once and share it among the team on your behalf.

If you would like to give an extra tip to anyone who goes above and beyond, that is welcome but entirely at your discretion.

general icon

Which airport do we arrive and depart from?

All guests should book flights to and from Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ).

This is Zanzibar's main international airport and the only airport used for this trip.

We will arrange your included arrival and departure transfers from ZNZ.

general icon

What currency is used in Zanzibar?

Zanzibar uses the Tanzanian Shilling (TZS).

Larger hotels accept cards, but cash helps at markets, small shops, and for tips. Exchange money only at banks or licensed exchange offices.

general icon

What should I wear on this trip?

Zanzibar has a modest, Muslim culture. Light, breathable clothing that covers the shoulders and knees is recommended in Stone Town and villages. Swimwear is fine at the beach and at the hotel. A light scarf is useful.

We'll share a full packing list closer to the trip.

general icon

Is this trip physically demanding?

Not at all. The itinerary is relaxed, with light walking in Stone Town and plenty of beach time.

general icon

What will the weather be like?

Zanzibar is warm and tropical all year. Expect sunny days and warm evenings. Pack light clothing, sunscreen, and a light layer for the evenings.

general icon

What optional activities can I add?

You can make your trip even more special with:

  • Nungwi Dolphin Experience & Snorkeling

  • Sea Turtle Experience & Island Excursion

  • Prison Island Tour

  • Beach Horse Riding

Optional activities must be booked in advance and depend on weather and sea conditions.

general icon

Who leads the trip?

Shahana Khan Khalil, our Travel Tribe Co. host, accompanies you throughout the journey, supported by experienced local guides and drivers.

We'll take care of you from start to finish.

general icon

Are meals halal?

Yes. Zanzibar is a Muslim-majority island, and halal food is widely available. Please let us know about any allergies or dietary needs in advance.

general icon

What kind of food can I expect?

Zanzibari cuisine is full of flavor, shaped by Swahili, Arab, and Indian influences.

Expect fresh seafood, fragrant rice dishes like pilau and biryani, coconut curries, tropical fruits, and, of course, plenty of local spices.

general icon

How large is the group?

To keep the trip intimate and comfortable, the group typically hosts 8–20 women.

general icon

What is the cancellation policy?

Your booking will outline deposit requirements, payment deadlines, and cancellation terms.

Most Trips include a non-refundable deposit and final payment due 60 days before departure. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.

general icon

Will there be free time?

Yes. This trip balances curated experiences with plenty of free time for the beach, rest, or optional activities.

general icon
